Fixed Limit Tips: Stealing the Big Blind

In limit poker it's harder to get players to fold because they're almost always getting good odds to call a bet, especially when there are more than two players in a pot. One of the situations where you can make opponents fold on a high percentage is pre-flop, before there's any money in the pot. You don't have the ability to make a big bet to steal the blinds, but if you get the right style player you can earn a profit from blind stealing.

It's good to test out your opponents who are in the big blind. Some players will call two bets with anything in their hand. When you find these players you want to go after their blinds with legitimate hands. If you discover a player who will only play good cards in the big blind, you can start to raise them up most times they're on it.

You shouldn't try to steal them every time, your opponents will see what you're doing and will start to re-raise you with just about anything. Let the style of the player determine how often you do it.
