Bankroll

Building a bankroll is a constant battle between risk and reward. We try to risk small amounts of our bankrolls in an attempt to win prize pools that will make it grow. The bigger the bankroll the bigger the action can be; the bigger the action, the bigger the profits. We know that we shouldn't buy into a tournament that costs $200 when all we have is $500 to play with. It's too much risk. Tournament buy-ins shouldn't be more than 5-15 % of your bankroll.
The best option to build a bankroll is a
freeroll tournament. If you find a good one and finish well, you'll win enough cash to get you into some good games. There is no risk to your bankroll because it's free to enter. Many players will play exclusively freeroll tournaments until they've accumulated enough cash to play in a medium-size cash game or
multi-table tournament. Most
poker sites have a wide selection of freeroll events that are run on a daily basis. If you join enough poker rooms you can fill all your playing time with freeroll events.
The action tends to be less skilled in these events, so if you know a thing or two on the poker table you'll eventually have some success. Just remember when you do win some money to play with you want to play in the proper game for your new bankroll.
