Carlos "El Matador" Mortensen has been one of the most aggressive holdem players on tour for over a decade now. The 2001 WSOP Main Event champion from Spain is 13th on the all-time tournament money list with over $8.8 million in winnings. Besides his WSOP championship, he also has two WPT titles and another WSOP bracelet. Carlos has never been afraid to get his chips in the middle and put his opponents to the test. Widely considered one of the best in the game, Carlos ranks as the most successful hyper-aggressive player on tour.
2. Gus "The Great Dane" Hansen comes in second on the list only because he has a system to his aggression. Some may think that Gus should be number one on the list, but his aggression is more mathematical than Mortensen. Hansen is most aggressive when he's built a chip stack or is on a short stack, and tends to play tighter when his stack is average. Gus has three WPT titles and has earned over $7.5 million in tournament action alone. He's also aggressive in his business endeavors and has a stake in FullTiltPoker, Betfair, ThePlayr.com, and GusHansenTV.
3. Vinny Vinh is a semi-known professional who has had some big moments on the pro tour. This guy will put his chips in the middle with just about anything if he thinks his opponent will fold their hand. No one uses fold equity like Vinny Vinh. He has won over $2.4 million playing in live tournaments. He has a WSOP Circuit event win and was runner-up when Antonio Esfandiari won his WPT championship in 2004. He's best known for failing to show up on Day 2 for the conclusion a WSOP event where he was in second place going into the day. Even after blinding out he finished in 20th place and won 16K.
4. Dario Minieri made his splash on the poker scene in the 2007 WSOP Main Event when he ran over so many players with his check/raise aggressive style of play. It seems that Minieri says "raise" more than any other word at the poker table, and his style has made him over $1.6 million in live tournament winnings since 2006. He also was the first player to ever earn enough player points on PokerStars to get a free Porsche, which he drives throughout Europe as he travels to poker tournaments. Dario has one WSOP bracelet that he won in 2008.
5. Sam Farha gets the nod as the number five most aggressive poker player. You won't see Sam Farha at as many tournaments as you'll see the other players because Sammy plays a lot of high stakes cash games. As we've all seen from the High Stakes Poker show, Sammy gets his chips in the middle with anything and will play just about any cards that come his way. A true shark of the game, Sammy consistently beats the big games, and only he knows how much his aggressive style has won for him over the years.
