WSOP Main Event Update on Team Bodog and Bodog Pros
by Bodog Poker | Jul 6 2009

The
2009 World Series of Poker Main Event began three days ago with players from all over the world trying to become the next big thing in
poker. The only sideshow so far was one former champion who decided that it was a good idea to make a fool of himself again, and was carried into the Rio like royalty dressed as a Gladiator.
Online poker room brands seemed to be all over the place as the first three of four Day 1's were completed, and so far Bodog has been well represented by
Team Bodog and the Bodog pros.
For some reason the first day tends to be the less popular choice for Main Event entrants over the last couple of years. Whatever the reason,
Bodog had only one player opting to play on Day 1a. The only Team Bodog player who could be found on the first day was Ryan 'rjules12' Julius. Julius had a good day at the tables, slowing building his stack up to around 50K. He dumped back a little by the end of the day, but he will enter one of the Day 2's with a chip count of 40700.
On Day 1b more Bodog players tried their luck on the tables. Patrice 'hotmax9' Libert must have been surprised to see poker legend Amarillo Slim seated next to him at the start of the day, but he managed to survive despite it. He'll have a lot of work to do when he gets back on the tables again with only 5225 in chips. Robert "rmobley65" Mobley fared much better and finished the day pretty much where he started it at 30775 in chips. David "DARKHELMET13" Lee is doing very well and will have a good size stack of 53050 to play with on Day 2. Jean-Yves "neophrak" Desmoort earned a little more than he started with and finished Day 1b in decent shape at 36375, while Patricia "MsSassy" Bickley lost about half her chips, but remains alive with 14500.
On Day 1c we saw some of the Bodog Pros make an appearance.
Jean-Robert Bellande ended up with a draw that was a nightmare. Sitting at his table were Andrew "good2cu" Robl, Liv Boeree, and Chino Rheem. But Bellande was able to battle his way through the tough field, and even knocked Rheem out of the Main Event with a full house. After doubling through with top set later in the day, Bellande had about 72K going into the dinner break.
Also playing on Day 1c was Bodog Pro
Justin Bonomo. Bonomo has been having a great Day 1 and, at last glance, was up to 106K after flopping a flush against two-pair. Later he then held on with AA against a flush and straight draw. He built most of his stack earlier in the day when he doubled up to get to 53K with another pair of aces.
Unfortunately
Evelyn Ng continued to feel under the weather, battling a cold virus, and did not have a good day. She was out of the Main Event by the second level, but now at least she can finally get some needed rest.
