Summer Poker Tournament Schedule
by Bodog Poker | Jul 31 2009
The
2009 World Series of Poker has wrapped up, with only the November Nine remaining to play out the final table four months from now. This time of year used to be when many top poker pros took time off from the circuit to relax and vacation. The game has become so popular throughout the world now that many new locations want to host a big
poker tournament, and this time of year is a good time to do it. Action still slows down in the U.S. in the late summer, but overseas it picks up. Big-name professionals are now travelling to Europe and Asia, taking their families on vacation while still getting in some major tour action.
In the U.S. the Mega Stack Poker Showdown will be played at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino from August 7 to 24. There will be 18 events ranging from $300 to the $2500 + $150 Main Event. That starts on August 22 and runs for four days. The other big event that's going on in the month of August in the U.S. is the WPT Legends of Poker at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles. Starting on July 28, 33 events will be played until play wraps up on August 30. The five-day 10K Main Event will start on August 22.
In Asia the APT will have its $4,300 Macau event from August 19 to 23. This event attracted big-name Asian poker stars the other two times it was played, and this year will likely attract more. In Russia the EPT Season 6 will host the Russian Open; it's a six-day event with a $6900 buy-in. Action gets underway on August 17.
Continuing west, the CAPT Graz event will be played in Austria at the Casino Austria Graz from August 25 to 30. They will have six events, with the 2000 Euro Main Event starting on the 29th of August. In London the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour will play legs 6 & 7 in August. Leg six will be played at the G Casino Luton in Luton, UK from August 1 to 9, and leg seven will be played at the Grosvenor Casino - Cardiff in Wales.
In September the action shifts to Barcelona, Spain for the EPT Season 6 Barcelona Open. The 8,300 Euro event will be played on September 4 and will max out entries at 700 players. Also in early September the WPT will host an event in Cyprus at the Merit Poker Club in Alsancak Mevkii Kyrenia, North Cyprus. 14 events will be played from September 4 to 11, with the seven-day freezeout Main Event getting underway on September 6.
Later in the month of September the WSOPE will begin on the 17th and will run until October 1. Four events will be played, including a £5,000+£250, £2,500+£150, £1,000+£60. and of course the £10,000+£350 Main Event. Like it did last year, the WSOPE will attract some of the biggest names in poker and ESPN will be there to cover it.
