Sexy Poker by Nintendo: Strip Poker for Wii Gamers

Video games have been the rage for young people since the eighties. Video gaming companies have been bringing the next new features to the industry for decades, and now Nintendo Wii has come out with every young man's dream game. Finally young men can play a game of strip poker without having to beg a bunch of girls to play, with Sexy Poker. The game has a collection of women who will take off their cloths if the player is able to beat them at a game of Texas holdem or Blackjack.

In total the M-rated WiiWare Sexy Poker has six different women who will strip down to their underwear if you can beat them. Nurses, police women, office workers, and sports figures can all be stripped down to their lingerie. The characters also speak to the player, offering tempting nothings things like "Perhaps you could be my business partner...for tonight at least?" or, "If you impress me, I might give you my special treatment."

Although this game may be popular with younger men, I don't see it becoming one of the top games. Once you've seen all the women in their underwear the game becomes nothing more than a poker or blackjack game. Released for 500 Wii Points on WiiWare this August, Sexy Poker was originally a mobile game and just may achieve considerable sales after The Conduit and MadWorld had failed before it.

For the player the game ends up being a disappointment if you're hoping for the Full Monty. The girls end up being prudes in the end, never getting past their lingerie. The Blackjack part of the game also seems a bit suspicious; the girls seem to draw 21 a little too often to be random. Another knock against it is that the game can only be played in the single player mode, which takes away some of its appeal.

This game looks like one that will go as fast as it came after some initial success. Mixing near nudity and a video game is sure to get some opposition from certain groups who will take issue with the idea. The mature rating shows that despite the lack of real nudity the game is still being carefully distributed.

Most reviews are expressing disappointment for a game that should have continued to be a quick mobile app instead of becoming a regular Wii game. The betting options in the Texas holdem part of the game are odd. There is a $100 betting limit, unless you bet more than you have, yet the game doesn't try to make you pay any of your clothes. The Blackjack game plays out very slowly, and waiting for the next hand to come can become trying to say the least. The replay value of the game is almost nothing because once you play it once there's nothing left to see.
