Bodog Poker will be sending one of the poker site's more consistent MTT players to the WSOP main event to compete for the biggest prize pool of the year. Steve Skowronski is an internet pro (who goes by the name "StraightNutz") who will be making his first appearance in the main event via a Bodog Flight Club online satellite win. The 24-year-old Indiana native has just recently turned pro and intends on playing 4,000 MTT's online this year.
Steve will be taking full advantage of his free trip to Vegas by playing in as many of the smaller WSOP events as he possibly can before he plays in the main event. He's hoping to be there for the duration of the tournament and wants to gain some live tournament experience that's been limited thus far in his poker career. He's no stranger to tournament poker, playing in an average of 20 tournaments a day online. His accomplishments have come quickly considering he only started playing the game two years ago as a junior in college.
Skowronski has been a consistent MTT money finisher for over a year now and has won over $150,000 playing online MTT's. He has a rich history at Bodog, winning honors of Bodog Monthly TLB Winner May 2008, Bodog Weekly TLB Winner May 26-June 1 2008, Bodog Weekly TLB Winner June 9-15 2008, Bodog Weekly TLB Winner March 15-21 2009, and Bodog Monthly TLB Winner for March 2009.
He also dabbles in $2/$5 NL cash games, but concentrates on tournaments where he obviously holds an edge over his opponents. Some other recent cashes include a $2,625.00 second-place finish in the $60 buy-in $15K guaranteed on Bodog, and an outright win in the $13 buy-in $5K guaranteed on Bodog for $1,500.
He also heads up a poker crew out of his Indiana home town called the "Midwest Connect Poker Crew". It consists of Skowronski and two friends from school who go by "Hebs" and "Bigtone52" in the Bodog Poker room. Both of these players have been successful playing online, and the three continue to hone their skills and prepare for the big time.
Steve hopes to eventually play on the professional live tourney circuit and limit his online play to the big Sunday majors. He's got time on his side at only 24, and it's only a matter of time before he has his coming out party in a big live event.
When he's not playing poker he likes to party with friends and play softball. He likes to work out and spends as much time as his busy poker schedule allows with family. His immediate poker plans, other than the WSOP, include the upcoming Bodog Poker Open. He intends to play in every event that the tournament offers and should be a force to contend with.
