2010 Euro Finals of Poker Preview
by Bodog Poker | Jan 22 2010
The 2010 Euro Poker Finals are set to begin in a week at the Aviation Club de France in Paris. Action will begin on Saturday Jan 30 at 8:00 PM with a €500 buy-in no-limit holdem warm up tournament. Over the next 15 days there will be a varied selection of
poker action to choose from, including
Limit Holdem, No Limit Holdem,
Pot Limit Omaha, and H.O.R.S.E tournaments. Buy-ins will range from €150 to €5,000 so that there's action to suit any bankroll. The Main Event is the €5,000 No Limit Holdem Diamond Championship, which starts on Thursday February 11.
In 2009 there were 115 players to invest the €5,000 buy in. Last year's champion was the seasoned veteran Dave "Devilfish" Ulliott, who took down the €152,000 first-place prize. The win got a successful 2009 off the ground for Ulliott, who had a slim 2008 on the professional tournament circuit. The win was his first six-figure tournament cash since his third-place finish in the 2007 $15K Doyle Brunson Classic. That finish paid Ulliott a cool $674K and was his biggest live cash to date.

With Aussie Millions underway down under and both WSOPC and WPT events being played in the U.S. during the Euro Poker Finals, most big name players at this tournament will be European born players taking advantage of some big action to make a trip home. The action is sure to feature lots of young players from all over the world who are still too young to play in U.S. casinos, but can play in these big events in Europe.
Satellite action will run throughout the two weeks of scheduled tournaments. Buy-ins will vary, but most of the satellite action is geared for the Main Event. Some will be for smaller stakes tournaments and quite inexpensive to enter.
