Most Exciting Players to Watch at the 2009 WSOP
by Bodog Poker | Jul 16 2009

There are lots of different characters floating around the
WSOP. So many players are famous now it's hard to find a
WSOP event table that doesn't have a familiar face amongst the crowd. Many of these players play the game like rocks, barely moving and employing their poker face with as much discipline as possible. But there are others who play a different way. Many experienced players display antics that are intended to both entertain and attempt to gain an edge over an opponent who might find this behavior intimidating.
The most exciting players to watch are the most aggressive ones. Action players play a lot of hands and force the action at just about every opportunity that passes their way. Gus Hansen is known as one of the most aggressive players out there. He will give action on just about any hand and is fearless when it comes to putting his chips in the middle of the table. Hansen moves chips around the table because his opponents have to step in there and find their action. Hansen's chip stacks are like a roller coaster ride, constantly going up and down. It's always exciting to see what Hansen will play next, and his style has won him millions of dollars.
Mike "The Mouth" Matusow is another very exciting player to watch. He didn't have a very good
2009 WSOP, only cashing once for a little over $7K, but Matusow's antics are legendary to anyone that's watched him play. He combines immense skill with an ability to self-destruct and dump his chips in an elaborate bluff. He often is the source of entertainment at his table as he's taking away everyone's chips. Once hated by most
poker fans, Matusow has become adored for his candid personal life that he's openly shared with poker fans.
Daniel Negreanu is another exciting player to watch play. He is another very talented player who plays a lot of hands and tries to outplay the opponents. Negreanu is vocal as he plays, often openly calling an opponent's hand before he makes a move. He's another player that's not afraid to get his chips in the middle of the table when he thinks his odds are decent, and he's capable of making impressive lay-downs that many players could never make.
Scotty Nguyen is another classic poker player who has a no-nonsense approach to the game. Nguyen plays a lot of hands and uses big raises to gain information from opponents. His humor and flashy table image are intimidating for opponents to play against. One never knows what Nguyen is holding because he could be holding just about anything. Fearless with his chips, Nguyen puts opponents to the test over and over, and tries to dodge the players that attempt to trap him with big hands.
This list of exciting poker players could go on and on - Sam Farha, Ted Forrest, Men "The Master" Nguyen, Marcel Luske, and Carlos Mortensen are just a few more exciting players you could have seen at the
WSOP.
